For fragrance houses and distributors
Representation, not a shelf.
The representation every founder wishes they had.
Who we are
A boutique, not a department store.
Scented Emotions carries a small number of houses, chosen with care, and represents each of them as if it were the only one: the founder, the perfumer, the origin of every material, and what the fragrance was made to do, known intimately and explained by hand.
We do not take every house that asks. Our terms are not standard, because what we offer is not standard. Stacey Barker has spent twenty years in this world, and the boutique she has built in Double Bay exists to introduce a house the way its founder would, if the founder could be in the room.
How it begins
Before anything else, we want to know you.
Where the house began, and why. The perfumer, and where they learned. The origin of the ingredients, and the reason for each one. What the fragrance is reaching for, and for whom it was composed.
Only then does a conversation about representation make sense. Everything that follows, from the selection to the terms, is agreed between us, in person where we can, and never from a list.
The method
We introduce first. The sale follows.
Our whole method is understanding: the client in the chair, and the house on the shelf, each known intently, so that when they are brought together the match is right. A fragrance found this way is not bought and forgotten. It becomes a memory, and the beginning of a loyalty that lasts for years.
Nothing is sold in the consultation room. A guest hears where a house came from and what it was made for before they see a bottle. They return to the boutique with conviction, and the bottle they buy is yours. Introduced this way, a house sells more slowly at first and more deeply for years.
What a house receives
A right hand in Sydney.
For the houses we work with, Stacey becomes something close to a twin of the founder: as fluent in the house as its maker, and as protective of it. When a client belongs to your house, there is no other house in the boutique for them. That is representation, and it is the only kind we offer.
The room is in the precinct where Sydney keeps its finest things. The guests are affluent, well travelled, and used to buying niche fragrance abroad because it was never here. The wall holds few names, each one explained by hand.
The journal
Written with the people who made it.
The boutique keeps a journal of houses and perfumers, one at a time and never as comparison. Where we can, it is written with the founder and the perfumer themselves, in their words, about their origins and their work. A house we represent is understood in public before it is ever on a shelf. The journal
A conversation
Direct to Stacey.
There is no form for this. Write to Stacey, and she will reply herself.
